At Smoke Master Cigars, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Sal Lucchetta for an enlightening podcast episode. We delved into the intriguing origins of the Arista brand, the meticulous craftsmanship behind their cigars, and exciting future developments. Here’s a peek into our engaging conversation.

The Story Behind Arista

One of our customers posed an interesting question: What does “Arista” mean, and where did the name come from? Sal shared a fascinating anecdote about its origin. Fifteen years ago, during a hurried call from his lawyer to register a brand name, Sal drew inspiration from a building on Islington Avenue named “Arista Homes.” The simplicity and neutral appeal of the name “Arista” caught his attention, and thus, the brand was born.

The Arista Advantage

For over five years, Smoke Master Cigars has proudly retailed the Arista selection in the Niagara Region. Many of our customers prefer Arista cigars over premium Nicaraguan brands. Sal attributes this success to the construction and quality of the cigars. He explained the importance of the three components of a cigar: the filler, the binder, and the wrapper. The wrapper, being the most expensive part, needs to be elastic and clean. By using secondary wrappers with mild discolorations and small veins, Arista maintains high-quality combustion while keeping costs competitive.

Craftsmanship and Quality

Sal highlighted the challenges and expertise involved in rolling smaller cigars. For example, the Arista Chicos, which are four and a quarter inches with a 38 ring gauge, require highly skilled blenders and rollers. Interestingly, he mentioned that women, due to their daintier hands, often excel in rolling these smaller, more intricate cigars.

What’s Next for Arista?

Looking to the future, Sal hinted at exciting developments for the Arista brand. One upcoming expansion is the Arista Chicos line. Despite their size, these cigars promise the same premium quality as larger cigars, showcasing Arista’s commitment to excellence.

Our Custom Cigar Selection Process

At Smoke Master Cigars, we take pride in customizing our inventory to meet our customers’ demands. Every week, my brother and I sit down to tailor our offerings, considering new brands, blends, strength levels, and flavor notes. We are thrilled to introduce the AJ Fernandez lineup, including the New World Bureau, Cameroon, Connecticut, and Last Call.

In this podcast, we discussed the preferences and sales performance of different cigars. Sal’s personal favorite is the Bull, while the Enclave tends to sell better. These insights help us better understand and cater to our customers’ tastes.

Our conversation with Sal Lucchetta was not only informative but also a testament to the passion and dedication behind the Arista brand. Whether you’re a seasoned cigar aficionado or new to the world of cigars, there’s always something new to learn and enjoy.
